WhatsApp Blank
Message

Try this one first. Unicode lists it as a symbol, not as whitespace, so it is less likely to be trimmed away. It can show as a gap about as wide as a space.

1 invisible character ready

The dots only show where the characters are. What you copy has no visible marks.

Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. WhatsApp does not document blank messages and can change how it treats these characters at any time, so send a test to yourself first. Use this for fun or spacing, not to flood someone with messages.

How to send a blank message on WhatsApp

  1. Step 1

Pick a character and an amount

Start with the Braille blank and a single character. The dots in the result only show where the characters are.

  2. Step 2

    Copy the blank message

Tap Copy blank message. What you copy contains no visible marks at all.

  3. Step 3

    Paste and send

Open a chat, paste into the message box and send. Try it in a chat with yourself first, and switch characters if WhatsApp rejects it.

Which characters work for a blank WhatsApp message?

WhatsApp does not document blank messages, and a browser cannot run WhatsApp for us to test, so treat this as a shortlist and not a promise. The three characters below are the ones third-party guides most often report as accepted, and each one is a real character rather than whitespace, which is why a plain trim does not strip it.

  • Braille blank U+2800

Try first. Unicode classes it as a symbol, not whitespace, so trimming does not remove it. Can show as a space-wide gap.

  • Left-to-right mark U+200E

Zero width, so it leaves no gap. Combine it with new lines for a taller message.

  • Hangul filler U+3164

A wide blank. A fallback if the first two are refused.

The zero width space (U+200B) is also suggested around the web, but some reports say it gets stripped, so it is not in the list. Ordinary spaces and empty messages are widely reported to be refused.

How to send a blank message on iPhone, Android and WhatsApp Web

The steps are the same everywhere because you are only pasting text. Copy the result here, open the chat, tap into the message box and paste it the way you paste any text on that device, then tap send. On a computer, paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V in WhatsApp Web.

If the send button does not light up, or WhatsApp sends nothing, the character was probably rejected. Go back to the tool, pick the next one and try again. Because WhatsApp can change this without notice, a character that worked last month can stop working after an update.

When a blank message looks wrong

A few things can go sideways, and most are about how a phone draws the character:

  • A small box appears. The phone has no glyph for that character. Switch to a different one.
  • The bubble is wider than expected. The Braille blank and Hangul filler have width. Use fewer, or use the left-to-right mark.
  • Nothing changes when you add more. The left-to-right mark has no width. Tick the new line option to make the message taller.
  • The other person sees something different. Their phone and app version draw it, not yours. Ask them if it matters.

Invisible characters also count as characters, and a screen reader may announce them, so they are a poor choice anywhere accessibility matters.

What a blank message is good for

It is a small trick, best for fun and for layout: a playful reply with no words, a bubble that separates two parts of a conversation, or an invisible placeholder while you test how a chat looks. It is not a way to get attention, and sending lots of empty messages to someone who did not ask for them is likely to get you blocked.

The same idea keeps spacing in other places. Our Instagram line break generator puts an invisible character on blank lines so captions and bios keep their gaps, and our WhatsApp text formatter adds bold, italic and strikethrough to the messages you do write.

WhatsApp blank messages: your questions answered

Can I send a blank message on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is widely reported to refuse a message made of ordinary spaces. A common workaround is to paste an invisible character instead, such as the Braille blank (U+2800), the left-to-right mark (U+200E) or the Hangul filler (U+3164). WhatsApp does not document this, so results can differ by app version. The safest check is a message to yourself.

How do I send a blank message on WhatsApp?

Pick a character above, choose how many you want and tap Copy blank message. Open a chat, paste into the message box the way you paste any text, and tap send. You can do the same on a phone or on WhatsApp Web. If WhatsApp refuses the message or shows a box, go back and try one of the other characters.

Which invisible character works in WhatsApp?

There is no official list, so no character is certain to work. The Braille blank (U+2800), left-to-right mark (U+200E) and Hangul filler (U+3164) are the ones people most often report working, which is why they are offered here. Start with the Braille blank and move on if it fails. Plain spaces are widely reported not to work.

Why does my blank message show a box or a gap?

Phones draw invisible characters in different ways. The Braille blank and the Hangul filler have width, so they can show as a gap about the size of a space, and a phone that lacks a character can show a small box. The left-to-right mark has no width, so it adds no gap. If you see a box, switch to another character.

How many blank characters can I send?

This tool lets you copy anywhere from 1 to 500. The Braille blank and Hangul filler add width, so more of them makes a wider bubble that wraps onto more lines. The left-to-right mark has no width, so tick the new line option if you want a taller message. A single character is enough for a plain blank-looking message.

Why are my WhatsApp messages blank?

A common reason is that the sender used an invisible character, which is exactly what this tool creates. A display problem or an out-of-date app can also leave a message looking empty, so updating WhatsApp is a reasonable first step. If a blank message comes from a number you do not know, do not tap links or reply to it.

Is it OK to send blank messages?

The message is plain text, so nothing here breaks the app. Still, flooding someone with empty messages they did not ask for is annoying, and they can block or report you. Use it for fun, for spacing in a long message or for testing. WhatsApp can change how it treats these characters at any time, so do not build anything important on it.
